What makes a shampoo bar great? Excellent ingredients, all targeted to help cleanse and manage YOUR beautiful hair! This shampoo and conditioner bar pair was formulated to cleanse, smooth and feed hair and scalp. Silky, happy, shiny hair has never been so easy as this! We used some spectacular oils and butters--read on to learn more about them!

The fragrance oil, Bergamot and Tarragon, smells lively, fresh, herbal and clean. A real spa-like experience! This is a fairly strong scent, and I adore it. It's so crisp, with those notes of greenery and citrus... absolutely lovely. I've never smelled anything quite like it; it makes me think of rain on leaves out in the middle of an herb garden! The citrusy scent of bergamot is gorgeous. The fragrance notes are as follows: Top Notes: Grapefruit, Lime, Bergamot. Middle Notes: Basil, Tarragon, Green Leaves, Jasmine. Base Notes: Hyacinth, Geranium, Oakmoss, Bamboo. So, as you can see, it's a green scent--one which brightens and enlivens the senses!

First, cupuacu butter. This stuff is AHHHHMazing! It holds MANY times its own weight in water, which makes it ideal for gorgeous hair. Non-greasy, this stuff is like some kind of magic in the way it treats hair. Smoothing, nourishing, protecting. Aaaaand, we used kokum butter (in the shampoo bars only). Sincerely, this is fantastic stuff. Then, to that, we added (gluten free) wheat germ oil. This stuff is SO great. It boosts hydration, strengthens and feeds hair. It comes from the seed embryo of the wheat plant, the purest form of wheat. Next, we used castor oil. Yep, that good old-fashioned stuff that's been used since time immemorial for hair care. Loaded with vitamin E, it’s said to be the first, best and most renowned oil for hair...ever. We used it in both the shampoo bar AND the conditioner for this!

We used some other wonderful ingredients as well, such as biotin, bamboo extract, silk peptides, neem leaf, rhassoul clay and bhringraj powder, as well as DL Panthenol (ProVitamin B-5). The shampoo bars have neem leaf powder (has no smell, the way the oil does), which is touted as helping relieve dry scalp issues, among other things. We used bhringraj, as well. Bhringraj is commonly used in ayurvedic remedies for hair, to help hair health. Google it. You'll see that it's terrific stuff! Rhassoul clay was also used in the shampoo bars, which is another of those "secrets" of beautiful hair. Loaded with silica, it cleanses, feeds and smooths hair. It's also considered a great conditioning agent!

The conditioner bars have fabulous ingredients as well. As with the shampoo, we used castor oil. But the conditioner bars also have wheat germ oil, cupuacu butter, bamboo extract, biotin, and conditioning ingredients that are luscious.

Shampoo ingredients:
SCI, SLSA, neem leaf powder, bhringraj powder, rhassoul clay, kokum butter, castor oil, BTMS, stearic acid, cetyl, silk peptides, CAPB, biotin, DL Panthenol, bamboo extract, vitamin E oil, veggie keratin, veggie glycerin, fragrance, mica colorant.

Conditioner ingredients:
BTMS, cetyl, cetearyl, polyquaternium-7, cupuacu butter, castor oil, wheat germ oil, coconut oil, DL Panthenol, silk peptides, biotin, bamboo extract, vitamin E oil, veggie keratin, veggie glycerin, fragrance, cyclomethicone, mica colorant.

Solid shampoo and conditioner bars are easy to use and last quite a while, as long as they're not left in standing water. Leaving the shampoo or any natural soaps or solid conditioners in a puddle makes them soften and melt. So we HIGHLY recommend that between uses, it be kept on a rack (like those wire or plastic racks that hang over the shower head, or even better, a bamboo-type wooden rack) to dry out. The drier they're kept, the harder the shampoo, conditioner or soap stays. The harder the shampoo, conditioner or soap is maintained, the longer it lasts!

So, they last a respectably long time, especially if they are allowed to dry between uses. Shampoo bar lasts about as long as a 20 oz bottle of liquid shampoo for me. Conditioner lasts significantly longer than the shampoo, and you can mix and match with other shampoo bars!

To use: Wet your hair as usual, then rub the bar between your hands and apply the lather. Or you can rub the bar directly on hair, then lather. My personal preference is to use the bars directly on hair. For the conditioner, I apply directly to hair, while it's soaking wet from rinsing out the shampoo, concentrating on the ends. I leave it in for a couple of minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

The shampoo bars are 3 ounces, about 33% larger than many others. The conditioner bars are 2 ounces, and it lasts, and lasts, and lasts! For me, one conditioner bar usually holds out for two shampoo bars--and the shampoo bars hold out for a long time.

As with all hair care products, keep out of eyes.

These shampoo bars come wrapped in 100% recyclable, biodegradable, compostable glassine bag/paper. Environmentally responsible disposal is easy!
