This shampoo bar is just... lovely. So clean, bright and classic! Though made for women, men also love this and find it to be a terrific scent; subtle, refreshing and best of all, so FRESH.

But it's the ingredients that make this a stand-out.

Solid, zero waste shampoo that has ingredients that love hair, including rose hips oil! Rose hip oil is so soothing. It's full of vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids, which keep the hair and scalp nourished. Plus, all hair types can reap the benefits of this lightweight oil! It's said to help temporarily repair split ends, and help hair regain lost moisture. We used illipe butter in this shampoo, a butter which is high in Vitamins A and E. Illipe Butter is known to soothe and hydrate the scalp and hair. The French green clay is great, as it helps to eliminate dirt, product build-up, etc., while balancing oil production to cleanse excessive oils without stripping the natural oils. We love the way it works! With vitamin E, DL Panthenol, silk peptides and biotin, these love hair!! My own hair surely does love this stuff! The fragrance... tough to describe, but... "fragrant flowers, smoky patchouli, and creamy vanilla come together to create this upscale and sensuous fragrance. Top notes of bergamot, fern leaves, and pine needles are followed by a heady blooming of jasmine, roses, and lilies and finished with a blending of rich vanilla, patchouli, and teakwood." I also added a bit of rose oil, which brightens this already bright, deep scent! Delicious.

Solid conditioner bars, made with certified organic rose hip oil and evening primrose oil, is also such a lovely companion to the shampoo. With the same fragrance oil and rose oil combo, it is a delight. We used cupuacu butter for this bar, which is said to keep your hair stronger. prevent split ends, reduce damage from coloring your hair and help the color stay locked into your hair for longer. The conditioning and smoothing ability in this combo is really wonderful. We also have DL Panthenol (ProVitamin B-5) in this, as well as veggie keratin and vitamin E oil. It makes my hair feel like silk! And the fragrance left behind is like a light, delicate cloud surrounding for hours.

Solid shampoo and conditioner bars are easy to use and last quite a while, as long as they're not left in standing water. Leaving the shampoo or any natural soaps or solid conditioners in a puddle makes them soften and melt. So we HIGHLY recommend that between uses, it be kept on a rack (like those wire or plastic racks that hang over the shower head, or even better, a bamboo-type wooden rack) to dry out. The drier, the harder the shampoo, conditioner or soap stays. The harder the shampoo, conditioner or soap is maintained, the longer it lasts!

So, they last a respectably long time, especially if they are allowed to dry between uses.

To use: Wet your hair as usual, then rub the bar between your hands and apply the lather. Or you can rub the bar directly on hair, then lather. My personal preference is to use the bars directly on hair. For the conditioner, I apply directly to hair, while it's soaking wet from rinsing out the shampoo, concentrating on the ends. I leave it in for a couple of minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

The shampoo bars are 3 ounces, about 33% larger than many others. The conditioner bars are 2 ounces, and it lasts, and lasts, and lasts! For me, one conditioner bar usually holds out for two shampoo bars--and the shampoo bars hold out for a long time. For me, one shampoo bar lasts about as long as a 16-20 ounce bottle of commercial liquid shampoo. You save about $1 by getting the shampoo and conditioner as a pair!
